# Site-wide settings

Set the defaults every FlipBook inherits. Change them once under **FlipBooks → Settings**.

Open **FlipBooks → Settings**. The options are grouped in tabs on the left, the same tabs you see inside each book. Press **Save changes** when you are done. **Restore built-in defaults** puts every option back to the plugin's own values.

## Display

- **Tabs**: Display, Layout, Motion & sound, Controls, plus a Shortcodes & help reference.
- **Display mode**: *Embedded* shows the book in the page. The lightbox modes open it in a popup from a cover thumbnail, a thumbnail with the title, or a text link.
- **Height**: height of the embedded book in pixels (minimum 200).

| Option | Values | What it does |

| Display mode | Embedded, Lightbox (cover), Lightbox (cover + title), Lightbox (text link) | How the book appears in a page. |
| Link text | text (default "Open book") | Label used by the text-link mode. |
| Height (px) | number (default 600) | Height of the embedded book. |
| Background colour | colour (default #2b2b2b) | Colour behind the pages. |

## Layout

- **Page effect**: *3D page curl* (WebGL), *2D corner peel* or *Flat 2D flip*. Without WebGL the curl falls back to the corner peel.
- **Pages shown**: automatic (one page on narrow screens), always one page, or always two.
- **Hard pages**: which pages stay stiff: none, the front and back cover, or all pages.

| Option | Values | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Page rotation | 0°, 90°, 180°, 270° | Rotates every page. |
| Right-to-left reading | on / off | For right-to-left languages. |
| First page is a single cover | on (default) / off | Off starts on a two-page spread. |
| Hardcover board, Cover board colour, Page-edge colour | on/off, colours | Draws a board around the covers (3D curl only). |
| 3D tilt up / left (degrees) | number | Tilts the book. Text selection and links are disabled while tilted. |

## Motion & sound

- **Page-turn duration**: in milliseconds; lower is faster (300–2000).
- **Autoplay interval**: seconds between automatic turns; 0 turns it off. The play button is shown either way.
- **Page-turn sound**: synthesised or one of three recorded sounds.

| Option | Default | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Flexibility | 0.9 | How much pages flex; 0 is stiff (3D curl only). |
| Opening animation | on | Plays a short intro when the book loads. |
| Page-turn sound on by default | off | Visitors can toggle it with the sound button. |

## Controls

Switch each toolbar button and panel on or off.

- **Search**: search the text of a PDF book.
- **Download button**: lets visitors download the PDF.
- **Open the contents panel at start**: further down the list; it takes priority over the thumbnails panel.

The list also covers zoom and pan, the thumbnails panel, table of contents, text selection and links, share, print, help, fullscreen, autoplay, sound and the one/two-page toggle.
